Neck Liposuction

Neck liposuction is a procedure designed to remove excess fat from beneath the chin. Liposuction delivers immediate results right after the procedure, whereas methods like injections, cooling, or heating fat often require multiple sessions and up to three months to show noticeable changes.

 Ideal Candidates for Neck Liposuction

This procedure is best suited for individuals who have visible and pinchable fat under the chin and maintain a stable weight. The more pinchable fat present, the better the outcomes of the liposuction. Patients with loose skin around the neck but minimal or no submental fat are not good candidates for liposuction. For these individuals, surgical neck lifts or laser coring and resurfacing  might be more appropriate options, depending on their specific situation.

Alternative Treatments for Under Chin Fat:

Other treatments for reducing fat under the chin include fat dissolving injections and RF Microneedling.  Injections are ideal for small fat pockets, while liposuction is more effective for larger, more significant fat deposits, offering less downtime and lower costs overall. Typically, only one session of liposuction is necessary, which is more efficient compared to the 2 to 4 sessions generally required for fat dissolving injections.

For those hesitant about surgery or injections, RF Microneedling is a non-invasive alternative. RF Microneedling may take multiple sessions but may have the added benefit of skin tightening.

Are Results Permanent?

The fat removal from liposuction is generally permanent, provided you maintain your weight within <5% of your pre-procedure weight. Significant weight gain can lead to an increase in fat cells, as fat tissue contains stem cells capable of producing new fat cells. Skin tightening effects usually last between 5 to 15 years, and maintenance treatments can help sustain youthful and firm skin.

Does Liposuction Improve Skin Quality?

While primarily targeting fat removal, neck liposuction can also lead to some skin contraction, possibly due to the release of fibrous bands within the fat layer. For more significant skin quality improvements, treatments like laser therapy or RF microneedling can be combined with liposuction.
