Facial Redness

Radiofrequency Microneedling

SylfirmX combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy.  This dual-action approach triggers a natural healing response, improves blood flow in the skin and disrupts abnormal blood vessels that are responsible for facial redness.  SylfirmX has two modes: pulse wave mode provides shorter pulse duration to target pigmentation or blood vessels, while the continuous wave mode is ideal for collagen remodeling. Both modes can lead to overall improvement of the skin . Most patients will require 3-4 treatments to achieve significant improvement.

Intense Pulsed Light

IPL therapy is a non-invasive skin treatment that can effectively reduce facial redness. IPL devices emit a broad spectrum of light wavelengths which specifically targets the blood vessels causing the redness. The damaged blood vessels are gradually reabsorbed by the body's natural healing processes. Over time, this reduces the appearance of redness and broken capillaries on the skin's surface. IPL is a non-surgical treatment with minimal downtime. Results can be seen after a few sessions, with gradual improvement in skin tone and reduction in redness. IPL therapy is commonly used to address rosacea, broken capillaries and flushing.

Fractionated Laser resurfacing

Laser resurfacing is another effective treatment for reducing facial redness. Laser resurfacing uses focused beams of light at specific wavelengths to target skin tissues. Different types of lasers, such as ablative and non-ablative, are used depending on the skin condition and desired outcome. In the case of facial redness, the laser heat from the laser coagulates the blood within the vessels, causing them to collapse and eventually be reabsorbed by the body. This process reduces the appearance of redness and visible blood vessels. Laser resurfacing also promotes the production of new collagen, improving skin quality and firmness reducing the risk of redness in the future.

Sun Protection Guide

Light is everywhere. The average adult gets up to 8 hours of unprotected sun exposure each week from walking to and from buildings, car windows and other glass. This is equivalent to sitting on the beach for 8 hours. It is important to protect yourself EVERYDAY even if you are not planning to have a significant amount of sun exposure.

Sunscreens are essential for preventing hyperpigmentation and redness of the skin. It is important to have a broad spectrum, SPF of 30 or more.  Broad Spectrum indicates the sunscreen contains ingredients that protect against UVA and UVB rays.  Iron oxides in tinted sunscreens are protect against visible light and blue light, which can contribute to facial redness and hyperpigmentation, especially in individuals with darker skin tones. Sunscreens formulated with antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E, and niacinamide help provide an extra layer of protection against oxidative stress and inflammation, which can lead to skin redness and pigmentation issues.  By consistently using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with these ingredients, individuals can effectively reduce the risk of skin redness, hyperpigmentation, and other sun-induced damage.
